PIXEL, INK AND DESIGN
We became enthralled with the digital sector, even before Google was founded.
In 1993, if you spoke of pixels, enthusiasts of the traditional analogue system, looked at you with suspicion. As if you were an ungrateful nerd or a day-dreamer with a lack of practical sense. And yet, we all took photos with a Polaroid camera, appreciating black and white images on glossy paper as well as the smell of acetic acid in the dark room. While some people saw this process as a duel between vinylphiles and digital aliens, what we managed to see was simply that the world was changing.
For each change, we have always acknowledged that there is a breeding ground for development and opportunity that requires cultivated without any reticence. We have worked in the field of photography, printing and colour for several years and we have taken the opportunity to exploit the full potential of digital media to ennoble the concept that would have become our mantra: digital decoration.
In the era of Facebook and YouTube superstars, today Ghelco can walk on ground that has been, by now, accepted by everyone: pixels are now icons of our daily life, blending natural tastes with virtual ones has done nothing but confirm our concepts. Technology has undergone a hyperbolic evolution and today’s new challenge is to introduce technologies that are more oriented towards the future than the present.
Design originated as industrial design and we have learnt that it is not simply a question of taste, but a way of life. In terms of functionality and communication.
To do this, we have combined the power of chemistry with technology. The former has enabled us to produce our top- quality inks, the latter has made it possible to make the most of mechanical and software engineering.
Today, we have achieved a concrete, tangible and greatly appreciated result. It is called Valjet, a line of machines designed to decorate, even before printing on an incredible range of materials.
We are driven by the belief that living and working in pursuit of strong values is the basis on which to make an enterprise flourish. For this reason, our values, together with our daily commitment, are at the heart of every decision we make.
